What was the last movie you watched?

Manchester by the Sea is my favourite. The others in my top 4 would be A Monster Calls and Swiss Army Man. Gee, I was all for the happy films in 2016, clearly! haha! Well, Swiss Army Man is happy (tough I cried loads in that!!) More recently, I loved 20th Century Women... at least a bit happier.. though it still made me cry, haha. Oh dear. Starting to feel like my tears don't mean so much. There are films I didn't cry in, I promise. Moonlight, for one.

And no worries, I didn't take it in a bad way. I am sure having children gives you a perspective to many things that those without kids can't fully feel. I have for example felt the love my Mum has for me as a thing indescribable, really. It's hard to image quite how that would feel to feel myself. Makes me feel kind of selfish in fact to try to imagine it. At the same time, I think all great films and art don't require you to have experienced whatever they're about yourself for you to fully feel what they express. :)

And haha - there will be people who hate every film. It's not always people being opposite just for the sake of it. While I don't care if someone dislikes a film I've loved, I find it difficult when someone feels nothing at all from a film I adore. But that said, there are many critically acclaimed films that lots of people adored (and sometimes which I expected I'd love before I saw them) that I hated. And I think you tend to feel you want to talk about both the films you adore and the films you detest more than the ones in the middle.

Hmm... Anyway. Yeah, Arrival is so beautiful. A truly beautiful message.
