Wow! I just feel weird, like i just lost a very good friend.

As much as I HATE what they did to the IMDb boards, I have to say I'm also kind of oddly excited about this place and what it could be. Obviously IMDb gave two shits about its community, but this place has the potential to be tailored and basically crowd sourced by its own users.
And it's being created by a former fan and user of those boards so he probably has a better idea of how a message board should be than those running the other one. I think this is a real opportunity to build something from the ground up!
It would also just be great to kind of make something as good or even better than IMDb, since it's coming from their former users.
summed it up perfectly :(
shareHoping Jim can implement that similar forum layout we know & love, including profile settings & avatars here. I'm glad to see many folks found this site so far! :)

shareYep. I was going to go through my messages and try to save them this after noon, but the pages kept freezing or maybe they were being deleted as I was trying to save them. It was supposed to be the 20th and it's not that, at least here on the East Coast in the USA. I'm not happy. I'm actually pissed. Pissed that it's not the 20th and pissed that the boards are gone period. I always had a good time. Yes, there was some nastiness here and there, but why should we have to suffer because of the nasty ones? IMBD was one of my favorite sites and now... I' just shaking my head. I guess I was kind of in denial of this actually happening and now it has.... and I want it back to the way it was and ALL of the messages that were there before they decided to take them down.
shareWTF??? It's not February 20th yet (??)
I am shaken.
Just deleted my 10 y/o IMDb account, no purpose in having it anymore. 😩
shareI know the feeling.
Although I never gained any significant friendships through IMDB over the years (posting since 2005) I did always enjoy the discussion and it was a regular part of my film-watching experience. I feel like a small part of myself has been deleted, wiped from existence. I've been through this before with a site called BlogTv, which was a little worse frankly. I made significant friendships there and one day *poop*, all gone. That's the thing about putting stock into online relationships, you can wake up one day and it's all gone. Someone could die and you wouldn't know otherwise. It's kind of sad, so I feel really bad for those who did have long-term friends on the site.
Someone sent me a PM apparently at the very last moments of the boards, and never got the chance to read it. Not a huge deal but the curiosity is bugging me. I was in the middle of a heated debate but we found some common ground, so I'm assuming it's from that person, but I'll never know.
I don't like this subtext of it being deleted due to trolling. There were some trolls like any other sites. But I often got in debates, sometimes heated, but for the most part they were always civil and respectful.
