According to TV news from Germany I saw today the peace deal is still on very shaky ground.
The Israelis are already claiming the Palestinians would have come up with last minute changes to the deal that the Israelis will not accept.
Many previous negotiations have reached this point, but none ever succeeded because every single time the Israelis found some ridiculous excuse of why they had to cancel the deal.
I wouldn't bet on peace in and around Israel just yet.

“When it comes to the involvement of President-elect Trump's team, it has been absolutely critical in getting this deal over the line.”

“And we of course, we thank the Trump team for working with this on this ceasefire agreement. We think it's important that they were at the table.”

What the US president wanted has never interested Netanjahu, he started attacking somewhere and then turned to the US for support.
Biden has threatened Netanjahu countless times the US would stop sending weapons, or at least a specific type of weapons, Netanjahu has ignored that every time, extended his war and bet on the US only bluffing with no more weapons, which so far turned out to be right.

I've always said, what it takes to stop Netanjahu is in fact stopping the support, but that would mean Israel would get wiped off the map and I'm not so sure whether the US military-industrial complex is willing to risk that.

what is this " the US military-industrial complex" that people keep talking about and blaming for everything?
The factories that make bombs?

The outcome would be the same for them if no weapons went to Israel regardless of wether they were subsequently wiped off the map.

How are you participating in this discussion without knowing the most basic definitions of the topic?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military%E2%80%93industrial_complex

The military and the corporations supplying them both benefit if only the corporations can bribe politicians into providing tax payers money for producing ever more weapons.

reply

yeah that was basically the idea / picture I had .
I find unsavory that arms producers will actually campaign for war and death to increase profit.

.. and absolutely abhorrent that politicians , who should be the ones stopping that , are being lobbied aka bribed

It's been a Republican initiative to redefine corruption in politics to be "free speech", they pushed that through the Supreme Court as soon as they had a conservative majority in there.

can you post this initiative?

The left is FURIOUS that President Trump is actually getting stuff done. The man hasn’t even taken office yet. The liberal meltdowns over the next 4 years are going to be fun to watch.
