I think it’s a complicated issue and I will admit I don’t have the scientific knowledge to understand why a person suffers from gender dysphoria or why they feel compelled to transition. It’s a condition I’m grateful I don’t suffer myself because I could imagine it would be an emotionally and mentally crippling experience. Especially when people are so cruel towards people who do as evidenced daily here on this forum.
I have known trans people who seem quite intelligent and kind though. Good people who don’t seem to have any intention to harm others.
As I said originally though I think performing irreversible surgical procedures on children seems like a dangerous practice to advocate for. Again though, I don’t have the knowledge or understanding to pretend that my opinion is the last word on the matter.

I grew up in Australia (or redneck wonderland, if you will) and even I was aware. One of the most famous media figures/celebrities was a trans woman by the name of Carlotta. Started off as the star of a very famous drag revue called Lés Girls in the 1960s, and I think may have been one of the earliest successful sex reassignment patients in the world. Definitely the first to star in a prime time TV show (called Number 96). Anyway, yeah, it was definitely a thing for a long time and most people hid it because, you know, society and shit. 🤷♂️
