Started off as the star of a very famous drag revue called Lés Girls in the 1960s, and I think may have been one of the earliest successful sex reassignment patients in the world. Definitely the first to star in a prime time TV show (called Number 96). Anyway, yeah, it was definitely a thing for a long time and most people hid it because, you know, society and shit. 🤷♂️
