You’ve misunderstood the context. I was discussing evolution, and someone mentioned that God started it, so I responded with:

I was essentially making their argument for them. As an atheist, though no longer an anti-theist, I’ve developed a soft spot for religion. That’s why I often identify as a cultural Christian (Catholic) — someone who doesn’t believe in a literal God, but has deep respect for faith and tradition.
I haven't read very many of CM's posts but he (or she) seems to be very motivated by intellectual topics. The fascination of reason mixed with the logical thinking of the great minds of the past can spark even the most mundane minds to greater things that could take them beyond what has already been. lol....
