Curious mind is a troll

He's made these two statements:

"It’s truly awe-inspiring when you think about it. From the simplest of processes, God, in His wisdom, has given rise to an incredible diversity and complexity of life. The elegance of this design, both profound and breathtaking, speaks to his greatness."
and
" Hey, Dummy, just so we’re clear — I’m an atheist,"

Possibly schizoid?

reply

*shrugs* I mean it is the internet. It's full of trolls, man.

reply

He has admitted on this board to deliberately being provocative with extreme statements (including some, in trying too hard which caught the eyes of the moderators), although I have found him pleasant and intelligent enough in exchanges. He is certainly a genuine secular right-winger. People though often say things online that would probably not express in the real world. In the instance of your two examples, I would say the first is just sarcasm, not hypocrisy.

reply

Thank you for the kind words and for accurately describing me as a secular right-winger. However, I’d like to clarify that the post about God and evolution was not intended to be sarcastic. I was simply making their argument for them — expressing the beauty of evolution through a theistic lens.

reply

Fair enough.

reply

God and Evolutiom do not coexist no matter how much you want them too.

reply

You're too stupid to live.
I’m an atheist — I don’t need faith and science to coexist for my sake. My goal was simply to offer a perspective that might help the more intelligent religious minds reconcile evolution with their beliefs. But you, with your shallow intellect, simplistic worldview, and complete lack of nuance, are clearly incapable of engaging with anything beyond your own limited comprehension. Your black-and-white thinking is the hallmark of an unimaginative and empty-headed imbecile, too lazy or ignorant to consider perspectives beyond your own narrow prejudices.

For someone who is both religious and scientifically literate, I recommend you look into Chris Hedges as an example. He’s a far-left journalist, among the finest writers of his generation, with a background in divinity school and who has a profound insight into Christianity. He embodies the intellectual rigor and complexity you so sorely lack, bridging faith and science with nuance and sophistication. Just because you’re too inept to process complex arguments doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

reply

You say you're an atheist (yet another "ism," baaa) but you talk like a bible-thumper. Be gone, troll!

reply

I'm not a bible-thumper. But over time, I've developed a soft spot for religious people. I've seen firsthand what happens when religion fades — it's replaced by something like Wokeness, a truly toxic and corrosive ideology.

reply

I echo this completely.

reply

Lol, you can't even imagine, much less name, a person going from religion to woke ( unless you define woke simply as having empathy for the downtrodden).

reply

Are you retarded or something? I’ve never claimed that religious people became Woke. What I’m saying is that as religion has faded over the last 20 years, it created a vacuum, and in its place, Wokeness has risen like a malignant cancer. It took root in leftist spaces and spread, infecting everything it touched. This new dogma treats the LGBTQ community as saints and nobles, elevating them to the highest ranks, deserving of constant worship. Slavery is the original sin, for which we must endlessly atone. And racism is the ultimate evil, which must be destroyed at all costs. Anyone who dares question this orthodoxy, or fails to demonstrate piety through endless virtue signaling, is branded a heretic, excommunicated from the fold, viciously attacked, and then shunned.

Wokeness is not having empathy for the downtrodden, it's the weaponization of empathy to coerce people into compliance with a corrosive, authoritarian ideology. It uses guilt and moral superiority to enforce conformity, manipulating people’s compassion to serve a radical agenda. Rather than fostering true understanding or addressing real suffering, it demands blind allegiance to a set of rigid, oppressive beliefs that stifle dissent and individual thought.

Wokeness is a cancer that poisons everything. It needs to be eradicated by any means necessary.

reply

I've got news for you--religion has been fading for the last 200 years! And nothing is bringing it back. And "wokeness" is only a dogma for the cons like you who need a convenient catch-all phrase for "the enemy." Good luck in your sacred fight for all things good, decent, and, above all, American!

reply

Religion is actually making a comeback among the very young, particularly organized, holistic faiths like Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity. Young people seem to be craving it. They are tired of nihilism which has dominated our modern and post modern world since Nietzsche informed us of God's death.

Just as with Mark Twain, the reports of God's death may have been greatly exaggerated.

reply

Lol, "religion is making a comeback!" You do not mention science--our real master for who knows how long? (And oh yes, God is dead as a doornail. Stick a fork in him. He bought the farm. He is no more. He joined the choir invisible! He's gone to meet his maker! Kicked the bucket--he'll be pushing up daisies, taking a real dirt nap!)

reply

You're correct, since Evolution is a hoax.

reply

I know I am going to be disappointed yet again, but why do you say this and what evidence do you have?

reply

I think someone is just jealous of the engaging contributions CM brings to the forums relative to their own.

reply

Jealous of a poster on a rinky-dink chat site like this? Get real. I just noticed an obvious troll and wanted to warn people. Of course it's not for you, one who believes in the "engaging contributions" found on this site. Right--how do you explain those two contradictory statements he posted?

reply

You obviously care enough make an "I don't care!" post. 🤣😂

reply

How dare you call MovieChat a rinky-dink site? This is the best forum on the interwebs.

And those statements are not contradictions you retard. You're simply too stupid to understand context. I explained it in my other reply.

reply

I know, the lib/lefty "I'm smart, you're stupid!" posts are so old and tiring, I skip most of them now.

reply

Just as old and tiring as con's "libs think they're smarter and better than us!"

reply

You’ve misunderstood the context. I was discussing evolution, and someone mentioned that God started it, so I responded with:

"It’s truly awe-inspiring when you think about it. From the simplest of processes, God, in His wisdom, has given rise to an incredible diversity and complexity of life. The elegance of this design, both profound and breathtaking, speaks to his greatness."

I was essentially making their argument for them. As an atheist, though no longer an anti-theist, I’ve developed a soft spot for religion. That’s why I often identify as a cultural Christian (Catholic) — someone who doesn’t believe in a literal God, but has deep respect for faith and tradition.

reply

All you leftist losers are fucking trolls, without two brain cells to rub together.

reply

Did you use your two brain cells to write this then?

reply

Two is all it takes to rebuke your dumb asses.

reply

Then you are in luck... all we need now is for you to actually do it...

reply

I haven't read very many of CM's posts but he (or she) seems to be very motivated by intellectual topics. The fascination of reason mixed with the logical thinking of the great minds of the past can spark even the most mundane minds to greater things that could take them beyond what has already been. lol.... Ohh damn, I sounded like Kamala Harris for just a moment there. Sorry about that...

I'll have to keep an eye on this CM poster, it should finally be an interesting month of December around here, although I do agree agree with thai, this is somewhat of a rinky-dink site. It just doesn't get enough traffic. MC needs to advertise or something....

reply

He’s an entertaining poster, thoughtful, calm and amusing.

It’s always funny when he debates a Leftist who inevitably loses and starts calling CM ‘racist’. To which CM replies ‘…yeah?’

causing the Leftist to buffer, short-circuit and implode.

reply

Damn Melton, thank you for those kind words. It's nice to be appreciated.

reply

You did a great job of winding up Skavau until he imploded. He kept trying to gaslight you and never could, you just kept coming back at him with your cheerful demeanour and made him look worse and worse as he turned more vicious and authoritarian.

He tried to exhaust other people but in the end just exhausted himself, and all of his two years of incessant gaslighting were for nothing. His only achievement was showcasing to everyone how insane and evil the Left have become, and that played a huge part in Trump’s victory.

So well done 🍻

reply

Thanks, but I’d feel bad if he left because of me. I know he was an asshole, but still, you know? I did enjoy jousting with him, though I could only handle him in small doses. I don’t know why he left, but wherever he is, I hope he’s doing well.

reply

He left because his entire reason for being here - to prevent a Trump victory by gaslighting Moviechat users/readers on behalf of the ruling regime - utterly failed. As soon as Trump won the election he vanished 💨

He was never here to discuss films, and he sure as hell was never here for honest political debate, it was always an evil gaslighting mission on behalf of an evil regime. Worse, he actively tried to censor and ban anyone who didn’t fall in line, or called out his dirty motives and tactics.

That is a level of evil I cannot forgive. So I’m glad he’s gone, I don’t wish him well, and watching his fellow Sisters melting down has been a heartwarming delight, at Christmas no less! 🎄🥳

reply

Curious and I have our differences (to say the very least) and have clashed on multiple occasions when I have called out statements I find disrespectful and even dangerous…

BUT

call-out threads are lame.

I wouldn’t like to see one for you Thaistickers and as much as I oppose pretty much everything curious stands for, I don’t like seeing one for him either.

I feel your frustration but when threads like this are created it makes it seem like we need to build a posse to challenge these views and I just don’t think it’s a good look.

reply

So you're pro-hypocrisy. Got it.

reply

I don’t think you do have it.

I don’t like hypocrisy at all and you may very well have valid points I actually agree with, but I just think it’s better to face the beast head on as opposed to trying to get back up. There’s something very schoolyard about that approach.

reply

A Thaistickers call out thread would probably just consist of a bunch of memes of the deformed guy from The Goonies. He's a moron.

In spite of your own call out thread a few weeks back, you seem okay enough to give a heads up to that you're not going to accomplish much trying to be reasonable with Thaistickers.

reply

If I may clarify, that was a parody thread after I’d been named a predatory homosexual by Melton which didn’t name him in the title, but a lame way for me to strike back and give him a taste of his own medicine, admittedly. Hence me deleting it after I cooled off. But point taken. Still, I’ve never started a thread seriously attacking another user because we’ve disagreed.

reply

I appreciate you coming to my defense despite our differences, Kiwi Jim — thank you, truly. That said, it’s unnecessary. I don’t mind if people gang up on me, I can take it. I’m here on Politics to be the Black Hat — to represent views most find distasteful and to defend them against highly motivated opponents.
