Trump and his Tarriffs

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c8xpzl8nnvwt

Donald Trump says he will introduce 25% tariffs on goods coming from Canada and Mexico on day one of his presidency

He also says he'll add an extra 10% on goods coming from China - goods coming from there to the US are already subject to some tariffs

does anyone think that is a good idea? any Trump supporters agree with that?
if so why ? to create jobs in US? will that work?

Trump himself when asked why said :
Trump says the tariffs are in response to "crime and drugs" coming across the southern and northern borders of the US

so i guess its a bullying tactic
"I'm going to fuck up trade until you stop peopel smuggling drugs in "

What a genius

It’s about much more than that. Stop looking at the small picture.

At one point, our Government didn’t have any federal taxes and our country was very wealthy because of tariffs. We should abolish the illegal and fraudulent taxes including the Federal Reserve.

If those countries refuse to cooperate and/or bring the product operations back to our country, we will build our products here and become self-sufficient and independent again.

And yes, he is a genius; his success is a testament of that.

i agree "build our products here and become self-sufficient and independent" is a great idea , its just a lot easier said than done , and even when done , things will never be as cheap because Americans want bigger wages .
Maybe that wont matter with the newfound prosperity and employment.

I just think Trump is one of the last people on earth who could navigate that econmic minefield.

I mean - just look at his initial gambit: "Day one I'll put Tarriffs on Mexico till they stop people drug smuggling"
An impossible demand and infantile plan. The "build our products here" part hasnt even crossed his mind

It reminds me of when he was asked "whats the biggest threat to car manufacturing" and he said "nuclear weapons"

Call your congressman. GOP has majority House and Senate.

I'm amazed you think Trump cannot make a single mistake. He's only human and not god. Your lust for him is showing. @tvfan

Look, you had a candidate that blew $1.5billion in three months and is now $20million in debt. Her entire career is a story of who can she sleep with to get ahead. She would've run the government the same way and the result would've been catastrophic. You shits don't need to be talking about economics.

Self-made billionaires are now going to run the government like a business, as it should have always been run.

Trump is going to hold Mexico accountable.

Fucking THIS, Amen Brother! After 15% inflation, they need to shut the fuck up about paying high prices, I'm so over it.

reply

You have to admit, that's pretty impressive to be able to blow that colossal pile of cash and not have a fucking thing to show for it! That is pure master level incompetence right there!

I find it incredible that Chinese manufacturers have obtained billions of dollars in revenue from product sales in the U.S. yet have never taken responsibility for product defects that have injured Americans. It’s amazing that the plaintiffs’ bar is allowed to sue 3M or Johnson & Johnson or Ford into oblivion but you’ll never find a Chinese manufacturer on a verdict from in America because they can hide behind jurisdictional barriers. Maybe it’s time we denied them our market until they take responsibility for injuries from their shoddy products.

surely the "legitimate" ones do, that actually "retail" things , OR a US retailer buys the products and assumes reponsibility for them.

If you buy from Ali-bab or Temu or whatever everyone knows you take your chances

Yes, Trump believes in extortion methods. It's his style. He has said he'll hold benefits for this and that unless he gets what he requests. He's more of a loan guy and not a gifting person.
