If Trump wins, he will rule out further elections. He will remain POTUS until handing off power to his family.

My grandfather, whom I'd always thought of as quite politically astute, keeps saying this^ to anyone who will listen. Why is he saying it? Is there a kernel of truth in it?

reply

Your grandfather sounds like he's heading down the same path as Joe Biden. Just humor him and do your best to keep him comfortable.

reply

We can only hope.

reply

Nope. No President has that much power.

reply

I remember when Trump won the first time and remained president forever.

Oh wait, that never happened.

reply

On the contrary, it happened in the brains of the anti-Trump TDSers. He's still president and everything is his fault.

reply

People need to get this notion out of thier head. There are checks and balances in place that would prevent this from happening. And except for a few ignorant people, none of us would want that. We believe in freedom, not tyranny.

reply

Thank for the response. Any idea where the notion is coming from?

reply

This also ignores the fact that he wouldn't control any power structure. His first term was marked by government officials undermining him at every turn. Russia collusion hoax, anyone?

How do you make yourself dictator for life when you don't have the muscle?

reply

They don’t get that he’s not all powerful or a magical wizard.

Only members of the Deep State or the Cabal have "the muscle."

reply

If he was going to do that, he would have done it in his first term.
