A question for those who are pro gun

The thing is that people can turn crazy years after passing the check you’re describing and long after obtaining lawful possession of a gun. We need to establish better security at schools. Treat them like we treat courthouses and airports. A TSA for school safety. And we need to put a lawful duty on family members to report to law enforcement when their gun owning relative suddenly starts to act like a weirdo. So tired of family members coming out post-tragedy and revealing they knew their relative had a gun and was behaving aberrantly. Family members who violate this duty could then be criminally charged

"If you feel like you are sane enough to own one then you would have nothing to fear."

I remember a similar argument when they passed the Patriot Act and someone said "If the Government wants to look under my mattress, let them. I have nothing to hide."

Fuck that. Some of us have an expectation of privacy. Background checks are enough. If you want to do something about gun violence, encourage strong, mandatory sentencing for the assholes who are constantly nabbed for illegal posession and only given a slap on the wrist.

Thats just it Warren, no matter what we do- no matter what laws we pass, no matter what restrictions and regulations we put into place, you are never..... let me repeat that.....YOU ARE N-E-V-E-R going to keep guns out of the wrong hands. It's just that simple.

Criminals, bad people and virtually anybody with no regard to human life or the law will not give in to that. This shit gets proven every single time we have a shooting somewhere. You're never gong to get rid of the guns. This is why gun laws, gun regulation and gun restriction will never work. This is also why you cannot compare us to other countries. Those countries never had the guns to begin with. They never really had rights to guns either. I cannot make it any clearer than that.

But ok, lets analyze your psych evaluation idea... This is already flawed from the start. Why? Because how can we trust the specific evaluator to be fair and reasonable? What if the evaluator is some gun-hating liberal who doesn't want anybody to have guns? This is very likely because look at New York and California for example. Some of the states that still require a permission-slip(carry permit) to carry or own a firearm are what they call a "may-issue" state which, what that means is, you have to have a good enough reason for them to issue you a permit. In other words, If they dont believe your reason for applying for a permit is good enough, guess what.... you dont get one.

It has nothing to do with feeling like we are sane enough to own one. This is also why red flag laws will never work as well.

I have a question for all the Gun Grabbers...

Will any of you be signing up to be the ones confiscating them from the gun owners?

You obviously have to blame the shooter, the gun isn't fired off by itself.

You will never be able to stop dangerous people who want to harm either certain people or a group of people, so why try to ban guns? And why restrict law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong?

A major change I'd go after are the parents of these children who steal their parents guns. Investigate if the guns were locked up properly and so on. Then hold them accountable, even if it means by death or life in prison.

If your idea would also be applied to the first amendment, then sure, try it, but I doubt you'd be in favor of going that far.

That's not how freedom works.

A 12-year-old girl was stabbed to death by 2 girls her age but no one cares because no guns were involved. Maybe figure out what is going on in schools and social media that is turning kids into psychopaths and stop blaming inanimate objects. A switch to the ass of these monster kids would put a lot this to bed.
