COVID deaths of UNVACCINATED teachers on the rise as new school year begins
Since the beginning of the school year across America, more and more deaths of unvaccinated teachers and school employees are being reported.
Cherie Garza, 40, planned on getting vaccinated before the beginning of the school year at Crete-Monee Middle School in University Park south of Chicago, her father told WLS. But she contracted the virus in July and spent most of the last two months hospitalized. She died from COVID on September 13, 2021.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools unvaccinated teachers Lillian Smith and Abe Coleman, both beloved veteran elementary school teachers, died before the first day of the 2021-22 school year. Michael Thomas, a high school teacher, was in the classroom during the first and second days of school before he was hospitalized. Thomas was a teacher at William H. Turner Technical Arts High School in Miami-Dade’s West Little River neighborhood. He joined the district on Aug. 18, 2006. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office reported he died on Monday afternoon.
Natalia Chansler, a 6th-grade social studies teacher at Connally Junior High in Elm Mott, Texas, died of COVID-19 complications on Aug. 28, just days after testing positive for the virus, according to an email sent to parents by the Connally Independent School District. Chansler, 41, was not vaccinated because she had underlying health conditions and was trying to decide which vaccine would be best for her, her older sister, Annice Chansler, told reporters.
Janet Bruce's mother Gayle Harrison said her daughter was so excited to return to Grayson High School, in Gwinnett County, Ga.so she could be back with her students. Mrs. Bruce was diabetic and she was not vaccinated. She said her daughter Janet Bruce was a holding on as long as she could for her family, ”The oxygen levels just kept getting lower and lower.” The adventurous mother of two finally lost her battle to COVID-19.
The father of a football coach at a suburban Kansas City high school said he hopes his unvaccinated son’s death from COVID-19 will convince people that the disease “is real.” Chris Burnett, who coached football for Olathe East High School and an all-female team called the Kansas City Glory, died September 11 after two weeks in the hospital, said his parents, Kim and Carolyn Burnett. He was 34 and studying to be a physical education teacher.
