Former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany blasts Trump on Twitter for increase in murder rates
Kayleigh McEnany, the former press secretary to one-term / twice impeached President Trump, blasted Trump on Twitter for the 30% increase in murder spike in 2020. She did it accidentally, and later took her Tweet down.
McEnany tweeted “The US murder rate under Joe Biden...” along with a graph from the NY Times which showed a 30% spike in murders across the US in 2020. Biden became President on January 20, 2021. Her followers quickly pointed out that her boss Trump was President in 2020 and she was PS for all of 2020.
OOOPS! Silly Kayleigh! But let's face it - she wasn't hired for her intelligence. She later took down the Tweet.
The graph is part of the FBI's annual summary, called 'The Uniform Crime Report'. It showed 2020 - the last year of one-termer / twice-impeached Trump's Presidency - had a 29% increase in murders, more than double the previous record of 12.7% in 1968. The FBI has been collecting data since 1960. This year's report will be released in full on Monday.
The FBI report also shows that Louisiana is the state with the highest rate of murders, for the 32nd year in a row.
