This has nothing to do with Communism but neoliberalism. Back in the 1970s, a network of like-minded people in the business world decided to install what's known as laissez-faire capitalism (alternately called "disaster capitalism"). Part of neoliberalism was destroying local economies, so that oligarchs could enter into deals with each other where they could be free to plunder economies outside of national lines.
In the 1980s, Ronald Reagan Conservatives and subsequent US leaders--backed by neoliberal Rupert Murdoch and the Koch Brothers--gave oligarchs in the US carte blanche to throw domestic labor and small businesses under the bus by way of outsourcing and importing tons of cheap goods from Asia. Back then, Americans tried everything in vain to stop this kind of thing with two campaigns--"Look for the Union Label" and "Made in the USA." But Rightwingers--with brainwashed by Murdoch media--ranted and screamed that it was their own fault if American businesses were outsourcing everything to China; American workers and their unions were "too expensive."
