I'm sure America was not the only country to participate in the program. Trump's Administration didn't seem to have a problem with the program continuing and ever praised Xi in the early days for doing such a great job. And surely, Trump's gutting of epidemiology funding was as much if not more a contributing factor to our tardy and unfocused response. We have biolabs too, and if the same had happened and got to China they were be justifiable angry as well. China's sin was in covering it up, which America would NOT have done most likely. If it wasn't naturally occurring, it could have been an illegal bioweapon, but I don't think so. More likely it was a doctor infected with a legal coronavirus culture, or an escaped lab animal infected with same, or improperly handled waste material. However, there is still is no consensus on exactly how or when the virus got started. We placed way too much faith in their willingness and ability to be a responsible actor, and we should rethink those arrangements in the future. Having all the PPE produced in China and not having stockpiles of those things here needs to be rectified as well. I don't think they should be let off lightly myself, which is where a part company a bit from other non-Trumpers. So yeah, you could spread a bit of blame on Obama and previous presidents for getting too friendly with China, but it is hardly the "Obamavirus". I have problems with Trump's handling of the virus, though I wouldn't call it the "Trumpvirus" either. I believe the leadership culture he created in his White House in handling it once it got here, and his unhelpful willingness to pander to the paranoid populist and anti-science segments of society are were his chief sins lie.
