Is Pence 'assassination insurance' or 'impeachment insurance' for T-rump?

Interesting bit of political history...

When Nixon was asked by one of his aides why he picked the unlikeable, unappealing, and unpopular Spiro Agnew as his Vice President, Nixon reportedly responded "assassination insurance".

Reagan used the same tactic when he chose Poppy Bush, who fought Reagan tooth and nail during the primaries (he warned us about Reagan's 'voodoo economics'); Reagan proved to be the more appealing and likeable of the two candidates. (Of course, Bush almost became president on that fateful day in 1981, but that's another conversation).

And once Poppy Bush took office, he chose the inept and simple-minded Dan Quayle as 'assassination insurance' - who would want him in the White House?

Jump ahead to Dubya Bush, and he picked 'dead-eye Dick Cheney' (aka 'The Prince of Darkness) to be his running mate; 'assassination insurance' indeed.

Brings us to the current White House. Did T-rump choose the unlikeable and unpopular inept Mike Pence as his running mate purposely as 'assassination insurance' or even 'impeachment insurance' ?

That seems to be the only somewhat logical reason.

i don't know what you're even asking with this one, it makes no sense. lets break it down, you want universal healthcare for all. and you think that pence will take us more down a road of capitalistic reagan economics?

reply

Wow did you miss the point!

reply

yep, and the fact you didn't get dozens of replies, suggest i wasn't the only one. so are you saying you want universal healthcare for all and pence is standing in the way? a simple yes or no will do.

reply

Universal healthcare isn’t even part of the topic. Not sure why you keep bringing it up. Lack of comprehension skills on your part, I guess.

reply

it's that your message is always lost in a mixture of pretentious nothings and "orange man bad" instead of getting to the point you go off on this strange tirade. most of the time you don't even ask a question or start a debate.

thats why the posts you post don't have replies, and the ones that do are you just insulting people!

reply

Who said I’m looking for a debate? Do all Rethuglikkkans just want to be oppositional all the time? No wonder this country is so divided.

reply

Yes, Pence is insurance. Meanwhile, Pence is upset because he thought he would be president by now. And Trump appears to be turning against him by asking why does Pence stare out him like that. I guess it creeps out Trump as much as it does the rest of us.

reply

That’s what I’m thinking. T-rump picked him only for insurance, yet Pence believed he truly could be President by now. Not even Cheney thought that way - he knew the reason Bush chose him.

reply

Bush was stupid, but he wasn't mentally unstable like Trump. Big difference.

reply

That's exactly it. And Bush knew his limitations, and knew when Cheney had to take the reigns. Bush - whether you agreed with him or not, and I did not - had respect for the Oval Office and Democracy. I don't think he ever let ego or fame get in his way like this moron does.

Yet another former Republican, Montel Williams called Trump "dangerously unfit" in an op-ed in USA Today.

"Instead of telling the president his behavior is unacceptable, even crazy, Republican leaders have chosen ambition, hate, greed, fear, lies and winning their next election over their country.

We will be defined by what we do in this moment. Because of my former party’s intransigence, we are likely stuck with an inept, emotionally unstable president until the next election in 2020"

I saw an interview with Williams tonight on Chris Matthews' 'Hardball'. He made some excellent points. Maybe the GOP should consider running him in a primary against T-rump.

reply

He left the Republican party. They sold out to Trumpism. Bill Weld is running and others may join.
