Is Pence 'assassination insurance' or 'impeachment insurance' for T-rump?
Interesting bit of political history...
When Nixon was asked by one of his aides why he picked the unlikeable, unappealing, and unpopular Spiro Agnew as his Vice President, Nixon reportedly responded "assassination insurance".
Reagan used the same tactic when he chose Poppy Bush, who fought Reagan tooth and nail during the primaries (he warned us about Reagan's 'voodoo economics'); Reagan proved to be the more appealing and likeable of the two candidates. (Of course, Bush almost became president on that fateful day in 1981, but that's another conversation).
And once Poppy Bush took office, he chose the inept and simple-minded Dan Quayle as 'assassination insurance' - who would want him in the White House?
Jump ahead to Dubya Bush, and he picked 'dead-eye Dick Cheney' (aka 'The Prince of Darkness) to be his running mate; 'assassination insurance' indeed.
Brings us to the current White House. Did T-rump choose the unlikeable and unpopular inept Mike Pence as his running mate purposely as 'assassination insurance' or even 'impeachment insurance' ?
That seems to be the only somewhat logical reason.
