"T-rump of July" fiasco cost taxpayers over $5.4M
The failed "T-rump of July" fiasco cost taxpayers $5.4 M, according to Interior Secretary David Bernhardt who provided the latest share of costs, $2.45 million for his agency, in a letter to lawmakers. He said his agency pulled money from operating funds for national parks, recreation fees, and another source to help fund T-rump’s big flop.
The $5.4 was wasted on tanks, a military flyover, and a Trump speech at the Lincoln Memorial which drew a crowd way below T-rump's estimate of 'millions'. Delusional T- rump announced Monday he would do it all again next year, calling the event “remarkable,” since no one else did.
Despite repeated requests, the Pentagon as of Thursday refused to provide a precise breakdown of the expenses for the Department of Defense. That department handed over an additional debt of $1.2M to taxpayers.
In addition,The District of Columbia estimates it spent about $1.7 million - not including police expenses. Washington Mayor Muriel E. Bowser wrote T-rump to say the district’s costs for T-rump’s July Fiasco have drained a special fund used to provide security and protect the nation’s capital from terrorist threats, and expects a deficit of $6M within the next seven weeks.
Bowser also reminded the president that the account was never reimbursed for $7.3 million in expenses from T-rump’s 2017 failed inauguration.
