Verily I say unto thee...looks like the MCU has dealt a killer blow to the Bond franchise with the upcoming release of DOCTOR STRANGE which is capturing everyone's interest at the moment. Not surprising because Marvel hits it out of the ball park every time whereas the Bond producers seem to not even know where the ball park is located anymore and one now has to question the future of the 007 franchise.

Verily I say unto thee...yes again. The MCU has the golden touch and only a fool would deny it.

Well, I don't see why anyone would not be able or willing to see a Bond movie every three years or so just because he also likes that Marvel stuff. It's not as if both franchises compete for anybody's weekly welfare payments.

And you've said as much repeatedly without any other movie (HAPPY FEET, JOHN CARTER, THE BOURNE WHATEVER or M:I UMPTEEN) as much as making a dent in the Bond franchise's income.

Verily I say unto thee...I am no supporter of HAPPY FEET but it did beat CASINO ROYALE to the top of the US box office when both were released on the same weekend back in 2006.

Yes, the last decade has been great for Marvel fans as nearly all of their efforts (not the biggest IM3 fan) have been FUN, something Bond has lacked since 2006. What have been your favorites, Bap? It's unfortunate, but it appears with the state Bond is in, that even The Man From UNCLE reboot was superior to the latest Bond offering.

Pepper mentioned John Carter in another post... I watched that for the first time not too long back and do you know what I discovered? That it too is also FUN. Honestly, it's not a bad flick at all and I would have watched the planned sequel. Certainly was more enjoyable than Spectre and its use of the biggest Cliche of all time.

I'm greatly anticipating Doctor Strange, it's shaping up to be yet another excellent Marvel movie.

Verily I say unto thee...I also enjoyed JOHN CARTER greatly as someone who had read some of the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels way back when. I was greatly disappointed with THE MAN FROM UNCLE reboot which was not fit to lick the boots of the original TV series and bears no resemblance to it whatsoever. It was immensely better than QoS though but then what isn't?

Marvel certainly gets the recipe right every time and is able to afford cast members in most of their films that would cripple the finances of the Bond producers even assuming the actors concerned would even be interested in doing a Bond film in the first place. No doubt about it, the MCU rules and delivers both crowd pleasing action entertainment with even some cerebral content as well for those that want that sort of thing. So much to look forward to from Marvel and so little from Bond I'm sorry to say.

I'm not saying that I thought any of those mentioned were bad movies (didn't see HAPPY FEET and the latest BOURNE, but saw the others -- albeit not in a theatre but from disk). I was also pleasantly surprised by JOHN CARTER and most Marvel movies I saw (though I'm tired of those repetitive CGI orgies in the meantime). Just saying that none of those have any meaning for the future of the Bond series. Bond fans are not run-of-the-mill action fans and won't desert just because some Spandex models offer more bang for the buck.

Verily I say unto thee..granted but the problem with the Bond films at present is too little bang (in the action scenes) and too much buck (spent on inappropriate and/or expensive directors).
