Villian Elimination: Carver vs Kristatos

So, a whitewash in the last matchup. Goldfinger goes through to join Greene in the next round, Stromberg is out.

The next match up is Elliot Carver vs Ari Kristatos.

Kristatos is an odd Bond villian. He doesn't get a huge amount of screentime, and has somewhat blank characteristics. His plot is very low key and realistic, and he is one of the few in the series to have the 'bait and switch' scenario surrounding him, seemingly an ally of Bond's for much of FYEO's run time. Julian Glover is a solid actor, but he doesn't imbue much of a presence. I wouldn't rank Kristatos as the worst Bond villian, but certainly in the bottom 5.

There is no ambiguity about the villiany of his opponent, Elliot Carver. Right from TND's beginning he is a scenery chewing show stealer, beautifully hammed up by renowned thesp, Johnathan Pryce. Like Kristatos, he offers no physical threat to Bond, but he is a Bond villian in the classic mold. A bonafide billionaire, with a private army to call upon. What also makes him interesting and still topical to this day is the obvious echo's of media moguls such as Robert Maxwell and Rupert Murdoch. In my opinion one of the most underrated foes of the entire series.

My Vote: Carver.

Carver for sure. His plan was so awesomely diabolical and I love his sinister relationship with his victim wife.

Kristatos is so weak in comparison. His backstory, is that he wants to get into bed with Bibi, so he enters her into the Olympics, hoping that will help his chances. It's a very shallow and uninteresting backstory in comparison to Carver.

Verily I say unto thee...Carver wins this one, Kristatos couldn't even take out Topol in a fight.

A decent matchup.

But Carver over Kristatos. Kristatos has a better name, though.

I'm motivated by my Duty.
