Villian Elimination: Goldfinger vs Stromberg.

Right, in the last matchup of Graves vs Greene, Graves was eliminated, 5 votes to 4, so Greene goes through.

So we go from villians from two of the most maligned films of the series, into two of the most celebrated.

Auric Goldfinger vs Carl Stromberg.
This one is a fairly easy pick for me. Despite being in my favourite film of the series, I find Stromberg to be a weak villian. The shadow, literally and figuratively, of Jaws looms large over him, and he does little but sit around and push buttons. He is well acted by Curt Jurgens, and possible suffers the coldest demise in the entire series(nothing matches up to him getting shot in his junk). Still a fairly soft villian.

Goldfinger is a different beast. He dominates the screen in almost every scene he is in. The "except crime" speech is one of the best pieces of sustained dialogue ever delivered by a celluloid villian. I do mark him down slightly for being mostly dubbed by another actor, but Gert Frobe still gets across a solid performance.

My Vote: Goldfinger

reply

Goldfinger easily. An iconic, charismatic, fun, and magnetic villain that set the standard.

Stromberg isn't terrible, just boring and given almost no screen time. He's got, what, four scenes? Jaws is the real villain star of the show, and overshadows anything from Stromberg.

I vote Jaws.....wait, I mean Goldfinger

Epic match-up.

Goldfinger wins, there's so much more to him--from cheating at cards (and golf) down to his clever plot to irradiate the US gold supply. Stromberg is still one of the greatest Bond villains.

I'm motivated by my Duty.

Goldfinger without a doubt. This should be unanimous.
