Let's hear some love for Charles Gray's Blofeld!
"Making mud pies, 007?"
Such an entertaining character.

Eh, the weakest of the four Blofelds for sure.
shareNo neck! He has no neck!!
What no man Can give ya. And none Can take away.
I think he works wonderfully in the film he's in, and is definitely a very entertaining version of Blofeld, but he's sorely overshadowed by the other actors, Waltz included.
shareWrong pussy.
Okay, okay, he was fun.
I'm motivated by my Duty.
Blofeld is reduced to a fey quipster in DAF -- but he is funny.
Send her to the snakes!
Such a pity. All that time and energy wasted creating this thread, simply to provide you with one mock, heroic moment.
shareGray's my favorite Blofeld, actually. Okay, so he's not very threatening and doesn't necessarily come across as a criminal mastermind (more like a middle aged man who decided to switch careers), but he works wonderfully in that particular film. So smooth and casual, he has those snappy Tom Mankiewicz lines, and plays off fantastically against Connery, who looks utterly bored (but in character, and it works!). They just come across as a couple of experienced pros who have some grudging respect for each other.
Judging each Blofeld in his respective film, I have to say Pleasence, while creepy, is not threating enough. Savalas conveys the egotistical side of Blofeld, but comes across as too affable for such a serious minded film. Waltz gets it right. So does Gray.
Verily I say unto thee...Gray was wonderful a few years earlier as the villain Mocata in the Hammer film THE DEVIL RIDES OUT conveying a cold menace that was not even remotely suggested in his underplayed Blofeld. His Blofeld even appears dressed as a woman in one scene years before the disease known as PoliticaL Correctness came along and demanded that such strange behaviour from a man became not only permissible but well nigh compulsory. A disappointing performance from a fine actor.
