Blofeld (DAF) vs Zorin
So Blofeld first. I don't want to be too negative, but I am not a fan of this incarnation of Blofeld at all. One of the campiest written Bond villian's (dressing in drag didn't help) no mention whatsoever that he had just orchestrated the slaying of Bond's wife in the previous film. This version of Blofeld was poorly conceived, particularly when it followed two much stronger, better written portrayals. I like Charles Grey as an actor and he does have a measure of chemistry with Sean Connery, but it just feels like the general laziness in putting together the character that they use an actor who only appeared four years previous as a completely different character.
On to Zorin, like Grey's Blofeld, he is certainly in one of the least liked of the Bond films. In my opinion though,he is a shining light in AVTAK. He is a solidly written character, pretty much fitting in the Bond villian textbook(former KGB agent, Billionaire) he is even the product of a Nazi experiment! All this wouldnt necessarily mean much if he wasn't brought to life superbly by oscar winner Christopher Walken, arguably one of the best, if not the best, actors to portray a Bond villian. He has good chemistry with the wizened Roger Moore. He also offers somewhat of a physical threat to Bond, taking him on mano e mano atop the Golden gate bridge in one of the more memorable climaxes in the series.(Please no dirty jokes there!)
My pick: Zorin
