For Your Eyes Only VS. Octopussy.

These are two Bond movies that are kind of both right in the middle for me, and I am not sure if I like them or not.

FYEO gets points for being more serious and down to Earth, but it has a flat villain and flat Bond girl arguably.

Where as OP is maybe not as memorable as a plot and feels more by the numbers in story, but it has much more colorful characters. What do you think?

Octopussy guns down FYEO on the train tracks; there will be no heroes of the Soviet Union tomorrow.

FYEO easily over the silliest of Moore's movies.

FYEO for the action, story, and of course PATHOS

Octopussy is superior and part of the Moore-ly Trinity alongside the majestic LALD and towering TSWLM.

I know a lot of posters quite like it and rate is among Moore's best, but I'm not overly fond of FYEO, I think it's one of the dullest and least exciting films of the series, with a boring plot, boring locations, boring villains, and a boring lead girl. Not to mention a badly dated soundtrack, humor that misses more (Moore?) than hits, and a severe lack of innovation and energy. It at least has some decent action set pieces though. I love the mountain climbing sequence. And Sheena Easton's theme song is lovely.

boring locations,
Heh??? Let's see. Greece, Corfu, Spain, Albania, Cortina (including the Olympic Village), down below in the Ionian Sea, up above in the Meteora cliffs, etc. Boring you say? Need I remiiiiiiind the committee that the locales are more plentiful than in OP? Even if you find some of the OP sets more sumptuous looking there's no way you can dismiss FYEO locales as boring. They're anything but.

There was overwhelming superiority of OP locales though. In all, a 10-to-1 advantage. The British maintain only a token, setbound locale.
