Villain Elimination: Largo vs Silva
So the last matchup of the first round!!
It is a big one too!
Largo vs Silva
Tough match up this one. First Largo. With a much imitated and lampooned look, Largo is pretty much,at least visually, one of the iconic villains. The silver hair, deep tan and eyepatch are very memorable. He is well acted by Adolfo Celi, even if there is some dubbing going on. His plan is classic Spectre fare. Offers a good physical threat also, even seeming to best Bond(with the help of a couple of henchmen) at the finale, only to be thwarted by his former squeeze. A very high ranking foe.
Now on to Silva. I am not as much of a fan of SF as most, but I wouldnt argue that it had a memorable antagonist. Javier Bardem's ticks and odd mannerisms really help to sell Silva insane edge. His plan is somewhat weak though. Urban myth alert: I have been informed, reliably or not, than the original plan was for Alec Trevelyan to be the main villian of SF. The whole rogue agent, revenge on mi5 stuff may support that, but I am still not sure. Anyway I digress! I do think Silva had a little bit too much in common with The Joker from The Dark Knight(right down to getting caught intentionally) and the film takes too long to introduce him. But all that cant stop him being a big hitter in the pantheon of Bond villains.
My pick: Silva(literally by a hair)
