Saw Quantum of Solace again. Found one thing I liked.

For those who know me you would know that Quantum of Solace and Diamonds Are Forever are the only two Bond films I dont like. Love the other 22! But I am re watching all the Bond films so Im giving QoS another shot.

I still say its awful. Everything is so damn dull and it has some of the worst action scenes I have ever seen. Still my least favorite Bond film by far.

However I found one good thing about it. The score by David Arnold. Its actually one of the best scores in the series in my opinion. End Crawl is my personal favorite. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJxJaJAr_mU

In actuality, each time I watch I get more an appreciation for it. It use to be a bottom dweller for me, the first Craig-Bond film I saw.

Then I bought CR on DVD and acquired an appreciation for his rendition of the character. After subsequent viewings of QOS, it rises through the ranks of the Bond films for me.

I agree with the score, it is a magnificent sampling of music.

You know Bap's gonna jump all over this thread.

But yes, the score is indeed one of the highlights, though I do like the film overall.

Well at least you got more out of the film then I could.

I'm with you Shark.

A great villain. Great Locations. Realistic plot.

The editing on some of the action scenes could have been better. Bond's chase of the rogue British agent is a little too reminiscent of Bond's chase of the bomb maker in CR. But overall, its a tour de force of quality proportions.

I agree that the score is probably the best thing about the film, but you're definitely giving it WAAAY too much credit by calling it one of the best in the series. For starters, *EVERY* John Barry score is better (yes even TMWTGG, his weakest), and both scores on either side of QoS (Arnold's CR and Newman's SF) are superior as well. Arnold's TND and TWINE are superior as well. So it's not even close to being Arnold's best. Plus there's the non-Barry and non-Arnold scores which are superior - Martin's LALD, Hamlisch's TSWLM, Conti's FYEO.

So while I agree that QoS is a good score on its own, when you compare it to the rest in the Bond canon you quickly realize that it's pretty darn low, with the only real competition being DN, LTK, GE, DAD, SP. Not all that impressive, you gotta admit.

P.S. I'm not a fan of the "End Crawl" music at all. It's just very bland and generic and nowhere near the best track in the score. I know I've seen some folks praise it but honestly it does nothing for me. Compare it to something like "A Night at the Opera" or "Time to Get Out" or "Inside Man" or "Talamone" and there's no contest.

Connery, Moore, and Brosnan! Accept NO substitutes!

Verily I say unto thee...I will never be exposed to the music or the crap it came from ever again in my life. I pity those of you who do whether it be by accident or design. As a footnote i wonder how many of you are away that the abysmal "song" sung by that screeching pair over the titles has ever had any airplay on British radio since 2008.

Same here. Used to brush it off as the Bourne wannabe, but it is an enjoyable little action film, crushed between the superior films CASINO ROYALE (2006) and SKYFALL. I might like it more than SPECTRE, but maybe I just need to watch SPECTRE more often as well. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, a lot of the Roger Moore films, and even DIE ANOTHER DAY took subsequent viewings before I really learned to appreciate them.
