Brosnan was fine for me. But definitely some didn't like his films or him as Bond and they're vocal about it.
Here on the board that includes longtime fans. They have their reasons. While I like Brosnan I'd say his films touched on a lot of things the Craig missions took on more fully, without reservations, without a kind of crutch carried forward too long after Roger Moore into the Dalton and Brosnan missions. Some unnecessary silliness at times.
I think any shortcomings of the Brosnan films go back to the producers. They could have made better choices and Brosnan would rise to that level. But things are what they are.
The game-changer in the franchise was filming Casino Royale for really the first time, the story that establishes the Bond character. So now there's a difference with a more straightforward spy thriller using the book and film staples in smart ways.
To me Connery is the best Bond, Timothy Dalton is my favorite. But Craig already has the consistently best group of Bond films and the train is on the tracks, there's no sign of it letting up.
I'm motivated by my Duty.
