Does OHMSS have the best action sequences?

Out of the entire series, I still think that OHMSS has the best action sequences, up till this day. I don't care if a lot of it is green screened, it's the way they are put together that makes them the best. No Bond film has been able to it, action wise, and that was back in 1969!

What do you think? Still the best action?

Yes, I agree.

I would personally say that GE and CR have the best action sequences of any Bond film. OHMSS is right up there, though.

It has some great action in it but I've never cared for some of the sped up frame rate throughout in particular the hand to hand fights in the first half, and the scene where Diana Rigg is behind the wheel of the car. Ruined it a little for me.

But the ski chase sequences hold up incredibly well.

It's true that the sped up frame rates parts kinda suck, but they are few and far between, and there is still lots of great action aside from those.

The sped up frame rate would have looked a lot better, if the camera operators slowed down the shutters speed to match the sped of frame rate. Why didn't they just do that? Cause with a faster shutter speed, the sped up frame rate, looks much more obvious and unnatural.

It's great but it can't top the action in AVTAK, because every action scene is immediately better when it's being serenaded by The Beach Boys!

I really dig those styles they wear
And the Southern girls with the way they talk
They knock me out when I'm down there

Connery, Moore, and Brosnan! Accept NO substitutes!

Some of the best, sure.

The best overall? No.

Overcranking mars the fight scenes, "epic" sound f/x notwithstanding.

Best skiing, I suppose.

The car chase/race is nowhere near the top.

The base assault has cool moments, eg the curling machine gun slide...and has a beautiful and exceptionally tension-inducing helicopter set up...but the set up is not the rest of the scene, per se.

Nice bobsledding fisticuffs with the antagonist, but that doesn't mean "the best action". A ninja volcano assault, an original train brouhaha, a DB5 (or two), heck even an overlong LALD chase or a bungee jump or an underwater Lotus are all more than comparable as action.

OHMSS has a perhaps the best story, though. That or CR or FRWL. Counts for a lot.

Now, this is a signature gun, and that is an optical palm reader.

Out of the entire series

Are you fücking insane???

reply

Those sped up action scenes and the fast cutting were quite innovative and hugely influential. A lot of modern action stems from that kind of style.
