Bond PTS Tournament Round 1: OHMSS vs Licence To Kill

Moonraker went through with a pretty decisive victory in the last match. Quantum Of Solace is out.

This one should be a tough one.
OHMSS vs Licence To Kill.
Right off the bat, both of these have strong links to the main story.

OHMSS has the nice little close ups of Lazenby, as he is introduced as the new Bond. Despite lacking a huge action sequence, the bone crunching fight in the surf is one of the best of the series. One would imagine this inspired the opening of Casino Royale somewhat. The old "breaking the fourth wall" moment doesnt really bother me as much as does some. Introducing a new Bond was undiscovered country for the producers in those days, so I thought it was actually quite funny.

Licence To Kill's opening does have a fairly spectacular opening action scene, along with establishing the brutality of the films villain. It also re-affirms the bond(no pun intended) with Felix, which is central to the story.

This is a real tough one...

My pick: OHMSS...just.

Neither is anywhere near being my favourite.

I think the breaking of the fourth wall ruins much of what the OHMSS PTS had built up before, so I vote LTK.

OHMSS. Great intro the new(for 1969) Bond. "This never happened to the other fellow."

I choose ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE. Great opening, and I don't fault its 60s enthusiasm with the editing. Could have had some more flattering angles on George at times, though.

LICENCE TO KILL is energized and equally good on its own, but it loses points for making Bond involved in too much of a team effort.

I'm motivated by my Duty.

Tough one, both among my top choices. OHMSS has a great fight but I might have to give an ever so small edge to LTK because of how cool the plane stunt is.
