Worst special effect in any Bond film?

It's going to be a close toss up between Kananga turning into a rubber pool toy in LALD and CG ice surfing in DAD. Any other contenders?

If you must blink, do it now.

reply

Considering the fact that there was no CGI in 1972/73 the effects in LALD were no worse than the pitiful blue screens in FRWL or YOLT and probably most of the others, or the deplorable sped-up scenes at the end of TB.

The DAD DVD/Blu-ray, on the contrary, contains a report in the extra features on how great and realistic the CGI was in the tsunami-surfing scene. Which of course is a case of completely having lost touch with reality, considering how that scene turned out.

No other contenders.

The surfing in DAD is the only one that makes me laugh out loud from how bad it is.

reply

There's what you mentioned and then there's the scenes in DAF with Blofeld's laser destroying stuff.

Kananga turning into a balloon. Absolutely no contest.

reply

Only thing I can think of was the rear projection during the car chase scene in Dr. No.

Nevertheless, Kananga turning into a balloon was just awful.

Those first two are hard to beat.

What about Madonna?

What no man Can give ya. And none Can take away.

The scene in Moonraker where Jaws attempts to jump from one Gondola to the other.
I know it's not a special effect per say, but it showed him half lunging in one shot and then flying through the air in the other shot.

DAD - Parachute Surf
Skyfall - Komodo Dragons
