I LOVE the Music from The Last Ship

I just so hate that this was not a bigger hit on Broadway. The songs - written by Sting- are just wonderful beyond belief. I'll probably never get to see it anywhere. You guys really should listen to the cast soundtrack!

I love the songs too, but you know what they just didn't make the changes to be successful on Broadway plus they weren't selling all on tickets, and what can you do when they happens. And it is hard to believe the show didn't do a lot more better when Sting decided to play one of the roles himself, but he was only doing it from a limited time, so what would become of it when he left the role, and I don't know the actor that he replaced would he returned to that role. One thing if you do well on Broadway then you are pretty much promised to get a tour. And if the show had done well would have Rachel Tucker would have at some pointed joined the cast of Wicked that she is scheduled to leave the show this week? I would love to hear hear the cd that Sting originally recorded as the songs that he was intending for the musical. I know it is on cd, but presently I don't own it, but I do the original cast cd.

I will have to get that Sting CD. ONE of the songs "When We Dance" (I think that's the title) is an old song from one of his albums in the 90's. It's haunting.

Saw this in Chicago, pre-broadway. My wife and I loved it!

Many shows that I like, I can see why it might fail on broadway. This one I couldn't get my head around. The pieces were there, I certainly liked it better than Once (different year, but closest in style) which had virtually no plot and won best book and best musical Tony. Call me confused...

I also saw it in Chicago more towards the ends of its run but at that time it is hard to know exactly how it would do when it go on Broadway and so far that is the like new work for Broadway that I have seen.

It pretty much tanked on Broadway... which I was afraid it might.

Chicago seems to be THE place now to start new shows headed for broadway. Definitely a theater town, a devoted audience, lots of theaters, actors, rehearsal space. Not sure success in Chicago is a predictor of success on broadway.

I have seen.
Addams Family
Amazing Grace
Big Fish
The Last Ship
On Your Feet

Yet to get to broadway:
Sponge Bob (we passed)
First Wifes Club (we passed)
October Sky
Paint Wars
Beaches (missed)

There must be more from the last 5 years I am forgetting.

Sponge Bob (we passed)

I think I would have to, as well - but it seems like I read a good review on it somewhere.
It does sound like some of the best new shows blow in to Chicago! 
