Why is TV so bad these days.
I rarely watch it anymore. Doesn't seen to have any innovation, just rehash of everything. YouTube seems to offer better individual entertainment for a million different interests.

shareThis is the golden age of television and 2016 was arguably it's finest year. On the other hand the quality of the product the movie industry is producing these days is at an all-time low. I don't know what kind of garbage television you're watching but there is a ton of that available as well.

TV is outstanding if you look in the right places.
Hint: Network television is not that place.

So what innovative good show?
sharePersonally, I like TV more than movies these days. Westworld, Game Of Thrones, Black Mirror, Fleabag, Bojack Horseman, The Night Manager, Doctor Who, Mr Robot, Happy Valley, Line Of Duty, Damned, The People vs OJ Simpson... terrific stuff and way better than the utter cavalcade of crap that presents itself at the cinemas these days...
shareBlack Mirror is/was amazing, easily in my top five favorite series of all time.
shareApologies. I didn't realise you were trolling. My fault, I shouldn't drink in the week. 😁
Carry on, I'm sure everyone else here will be REALLY impressed!
Ive scene many a troll and typically trolling takes a bit more wit than what ive scene here

Television is good, except for where comedy is concerned. Then, it's kind of gone down the crapper. There are comedy shows, but traditional sitcoms pale in comparison to those produced between the 1950s through the 1980s. Seriously, sitcoms are at an all-time low! And I don't know why we should overlook that, just based on the success of television drama, and crown this the "new golden age of television" overlooking the fact that what used to be a staple of television – the television comedy – is doing worse than ever. I talk more about it here: http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000012/nest/265476891
Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!
I don't watch tv, but I have several tv series on dvd that I watch every night. Currently I'm watching:
Law & Order
New Tricks
Arrested Development
Community
DVD or DVR ???
It seems I never tire of the old Law & Order series, SVU and Criminal intent not so much
I watch the shows on DVDs that I get from my wonderful local library.
shareSame here. Love my library! I don't care if the show is current or not. I haven't had TV for about 8 years now and I don't miss it. I much prefer watching shows commercial-free on DVDs. Plus I get to watch a lot of British shows that never make it to American TV.
shareI have been watching a few shows on DVD as well. For example; "Mad Men" which was cancelled last year, "Call The Midwife" which is a British retro program, and the Canadian retro program "When Calls The Heart". It is sad we longer have quality family shows and sitcoms on TV like we use to. Remember "made for TV movies". Those were fun to watch.
shareI agree about the made-for-TV movies. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I think they provided jobs for a lot of actors who were, for whatever reason, passé on the big screen.
