Lack of good horror movies around

I was looking for a good horror movie in the last two years. Ones I haven't seen and enjoyed.

I've only enjoyed 2.

So I keep looking, downloading movies that turn out to be poorly made and acted.

I can't think of 5 decent horror films in the last two years.

I'm bored to the back teeth of ghosts. Far too many movies about ghosts!

reply

If it's not ghosts, it's masked killers. If it's not masked killers, it's creatures. There's always some trend going on. And isn't most horror poorly made and badly acted? Though, at least the 80's stuff was fun and out there. The blandness is what insults me.

reply

Seems like it's all ghosts to me. Not seen a new masked killer movie for ages.

I also hate lost footage movies! No more of them!!

reply

I was talking about trends in general. If something gets popular, they make more of it.

Hi MovieFhan!

"I've only enjoyed 2." Which two films?

A few days ago, I watched Patrick Brice's 'Creep.' I thought it had some scary moments as well as being... well... creepy.

reply

Is that new?

reply

'Creep' was made in 2014. So, you might not regard it as 'new' !

reply

The Boy and Babadook.

reply

Oh yes.... I loved 'The Babadook' too. Not yet seen 'The Boy.'

Have you seen 'Under The Shadow'? That was released in 2016. Another good horror film.

reply

Nope, not seen Under the Shadow. But I will dig it out. Thanks. :)

reply

Lots of people don't like The Babadook, but I found it really creepy. And the acting really good.

reply

IMO, there's been a lack of really good horror films for at least the past 5-8 years. Maybe the last 10

reply

Totally agree, Napsdufroid.

reply

They're simply not scary. Some may be entertaining, but not in a true horror film sense

reply

I know. My grandma could sit and watch them and not be scared.

It's also the lack of imagination, or maybe regular horror actors like we had in the past: Cushing, Price, Karloff, Chaney, Lee, etc.

reply

I never run out of good horror films to watch.
