Starred a British actress. I think it was set in Georgia. She's a masculine woman in a town of hillbillies and she starts a relationship with a newcomer. I don't think her town had electricity. I can't remember the plot. It was a drama.

shareThis actress was the only female principal character. Also her town was more of a farmland town. The film was also released a bit later - maybe 95 - and its set around 1915. I remember the actress being British but she certainly wasn't Southern American and she transformed physically for the role. I thought it was Natasha Richardson, but I can't find it in her filmography.
