a movie I watched as a child with my Dad. It takes place either in WW1 or WW2. It's about two men who were friends before the war. One is a German ship Captain and I think the other is a POW on his ship who escapes while the ship is in a fjord. Anyone know of this movie ? Thanks in advance.

What decade do you think it came out? I don't know how old you are.

I'm guessing it came out in the fifties.
