I'm looking for a kids/teen adventure TV show (late 1990's or early 2000's?). It was about some teens living on a boat/ship, the main actor passed away in real life either after the show or during the show.

Are you really sure you aren't talking about Jonathan Brandis from seaQuest DSV? He died in 2003.
